Evaluation-Question Seven

Evaluation-Question Six

Strengths
Using Adobe In-design made my magazine visually pleasing as it looks professional and almost like a real magazine by using bright colours and pictures. Also by using Adobe Photoshop to edit my photos in order for them to look professionally taken. By using tools such as the ‘pen’ tool, it gives more detail by adding little things, which creates a more streamline finish, which would be created by magazine editors. Also by using In-design it saved time creating a look that was finished enough to be called a magazine.

Weaknesses
By using a computer my initial designs couldn’t be followed, as the computer wouldn’t allow such designs to be formed. I then had to re-create similar design, which could be constructed easily on In-Design.

Opportunities
By using In-Design, a professional program used by successful graphic designers everywhere, it gave me the opportunity to design a good magazine. By being able to use a program like this a professional looking edge was given to my magazine.

Threats
Using the computer has its downfalls, as once I had finished a product the computer shutdown and did not save my final outcome so had to re-design it all again, whereas doing it free-hand all though taking longer would not do this.

Question Three Evaluation

The IPC Media (International Publishing Company) was formed in 1963 after the UK three leading magazine companies merged together. Then IPC Magazines were produced 5 years later in 1968.
IPC Media produces over 85 iconic media brands, with our print brands alone reaching almost two third of UK women and 44% of UK men-almost 27 million UK adults.

If my magazine would be sold in reality I would choose IPC Media to distribute it. I feel my magazine would be suitable for IPC to distribute as from researching there company I feel their target audience is mainly women as they have distributed high selling magazines such as Mizz, Look and Marie Claire.  I feel my magazine is a genre of magazine that hasn’t been covered by IPC Media yet so I feel this could attract a different audience who are interested in R&B music. This could lead into more sales of their female dominated target audience’s magazines.  By using IPC Media to distribute my magazine, I feel they would be able to get my magazine to my target audience easily as they’ve got a huge audience base.

Double Page Spread Design.

This is the final design of my double page spread. I have chosen to use the same colours used throughout my music magazine consisting of red, blue and grey. I have also included a recurring theme of the font 'Century Gothic'. Which is used for the titles and the text included in my magazine. I also used dots to separate the text. I made the title bigger than the text so it was obvious what the pages were about. I used a pictures and made it so its almost the same size as the page. The interview i feel was informal but made professional. I like the final outcome of my double page spread as it is catches the eye of the reader but then also looks professional.

E: This year must have been exciting for you?
F:  Yeah! Has been great. Its gone so quick and been so crazy!

E: Being very young, do you find it difficult in the music industry?
F: Erm, yes but I suppose it makes you a stronger person if you can deal with a tough industry such as this one.

E: We love your new album by the way.
F: Thank you, I wanted to inspire people to make music.  I wanted to people feel different emotions when listening to this album whether it be happiness or sadness.

E: I’m guessing with your busy schedule you don’t see many of your friends and family?
F:  No I don’t, but I jump at any chance I get to see the people I love. But they’re extremely proud of me for getting this chance of a lifetime and they support me all the way.

E: Did you always want to be a signer or was there a different career that took your fancy?
F: I don’t know, I always enjoyed singing and dancing and being the centre of attention but I never ever thought I would end up doing it as a career but as many children I dreamed of being a Princess [laughs].

E: You’ve met huge stars along the way in your success story!
F: Yeah, it’s amazing! It’s so weird when I bump into all these talented people and they know who I am!

E: You live in England so you must fly around a lot. How do you cope?
F:  I have one day a week where I relax and chill out and I watch my favourite TV shows.

E: Is there anyone your dying to meet or work with?
F:  I really want to work with a few people but especially Nicki Minaj. She is really talented and I’d love for her to rap on a song with me!

E: Thank you for speaking to us, it’s been a pleasure talking to you and good luck for the future.
F: Your very welcome and thank you so much.

Music Magazine Contents Design.

This is a design for my contents page. I carried on using the font I used on my front cover for a professional effect as they use themes throughout magazines. I cut out a picture of the model in photoshop using the pen tool and making it a clipping paths then placed it in indesign. I then outlined the photo with white to give a informal look. I then used the theme colour of red and blue and black, but added white as I used grey as the background colour. I took inspiration from another VIBE contents, who's layout was also very simple.

Music Front Cover Design.

This is the final design for my Music Front cover. I like it as its looks similar to a professional magazine. I used indesign to create this, and i used photoshop to create the magazines logo. I feel i used the colour theme, of red and blue and black to make it feel informal as the colours are quite bright. I used the theme font of 'Century Gothic' and I will continue to use it throughout the magazine.

Music Front Cover Design.

For my front cover I have decided to use a colour theme of blue and red to match the magazine logo. This is a picture of what the front cover looks like before the picture has been added. I want to use the the 'Faye Malcolm' font to use throughout my magazine for the title on the contents page and double page spread but just change the colour to match the page.

Names For Magazine.

I decided to call my magazine either pulse, rhythm or flow. I decided to call it rhythm because R&B stands for Rhythm and Blues. I also chose it because immediately when people see rhythm they automatically associate it with music and my magazine is a music magazine.
To the left are the ideas for title of my music magazine, I decided to use this font because it almost looks like graffiti and R&B is always related to the streets and expressing yourself as an individual.

This is my final design for the title of my my magazine. I like it because its informal and the letters being un-even makes it unique. Also the fact that it has two colours makes it stand out.

Proposal For Music Magazine.

For my magazine I chose the genre R&B/Rap. I feel the Front Cover should have a picture where the model on the front cover is doing a pose that is outrageous which stands out on the magazine. I feel it should also be quite colourful and colours that clash in order to match the pose of the model. The Contents page should be more structured and more inline rather than the Front Cover as it will be more informal as R&B is all about expressing yourself your own way . It will be informal, this is because you need to take information of the Front Cover so people know where too look on the right page and picture will be on there to give an idea of the contents on the magazine. I would do my magazine double-page spread about the upcoming star that I would feature on the front page, and how there passion for music and being an idol is inspiring. The photo that would be on the cover will be on i've taken and will be wearing a suitable attire which represent the R&B genre. I have come up with a few names for my magazine such as Pulse, Flow and Rhythm.
